New Website Coming Soon!!

Wednesday 9 July 2014

Hello lovelies!!

I know that I have been neglecting my blog lately and I apologize!!

The reason is that I'm busy putting the final touches on my new website which will have a built in blog.

A part of this process included getting some headshots done by the very talented Melissa Toye. From what I've seen so far she did an amazing job making me look great!! I should also credit the equally talented Erica Wright who did my make up (and who will forever be on speed dial for all my future make up needs).

Look! That's me practicing my model look. Now I know how you guys all feel in front of the camera :)

Thanks for your patience and don't hesitate to contact me for any information, questions or just to chat.

Check out my Facebook page for sneak peaks of my recent sessions.

Copeland Family - Maternity

Monday 28 April 2014

Erin is a very good friend of mine and I was so lucky to photograph her perfect baby bump.

Soon-to-be big brother Logan was a great sport being in front of the camera (although it may have been because marshmallow treats were involved).

I had such a great time hanging out with this family and capturing this special moment in time.

I can't wait to meet baby Copeland :)

The Tiny Footprints Projects

Tuesday 25 March 2014

I am very excited to share with you that I have been accepted as a photographer for the Tiny Footprints Project!!
The project was started in 2003 when its creator, Heather, photographed a premature baby in the NICU and realized how many families go without newborn photos because their babies spend days, weeks, sometimes months in the hospital until they are strong enough to go home. So Heather created the Tiny Footprints Project which offers complimentary professional photography sessions for families with babies in the NICU.

What an amazing group!!!

Some of you may know that my son was born premature. Although he was almost full-term, he still faced challenges and had to stay in the NICU. It was a very scary time filled with successes and set backs. We were so happy once the nurses were able to remove the feeding tubes and IV needles. And elated when we could finally bring our little baby home.

I'm am so happy to be able to give back to the community and take part in this project providing free photography for parents staying at local hospitals in the Ottawa area.

Please spread the word. Every family deserves to have beautiful photos taken of their new love(s).

If you are a parent and are interested in requesting a session from The Tiny Footprints Project to capture those sweet moments of your precious newborn, please send your request to the project following the instructions found on their website. February Photo Challenge

Monday 10 February 2014

The photo challenge theme for February is "Lifestyle". Lifestyle photography is how I would describe my style of photography - capturing life's everyday moments.

This photo is one of my favourites - my son watching his dad shave. It's amazing to watch my little baby grow up and start to copy the things that we do. It's just a reminder that they don't stay little forever and before long he will be all grown up and shaving on his own!!!

But until that day, I will enjoy every moment.

Winter Fun - Chapman Style

Saturday 25 January 2014

It has been a very cold winter in Ottawa so far. Luckily there have been some really nice days and LOTS of snow.

Having a young toddler really brings out my inner child and I have been having so much fun playing in the snow! Thankfully our little guy loves being outside and playing in the snow; it's actually really hard to get him back into the house.

Oops, sometimes he forgets how cold the snow is and doesn't like when it gets in his face.

I promise that he actually really enjoyed shoveling the drive way.

My husband is very happy to have someone to make a snow fort with. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about the tunnel at first, but once I saw how sturdy it was, I was fine.

Enjoy winter where ever you are!!!!

January Photo Challenge

Monday 20 January 2014

The best part about photography is that there is so much to learn. You could study and practice photography your whole life and would still never learn everything.

Another really important part of being a photographer is finding your own style. I am still struggling to find this - but loving every minute as I get there.

To keep myself motivated and challenged I have joined a group of photographers in a 365 Challenge where you have to take a photo every day. This forces me to keep my camera with me and to capture my daily life. It also pushes me to try things I might not otherwise think to try. I will share some of these images on my blog as I go.

Another challenge I am taking part in is the Rock the Shot Monthly Challenge. This month is Favourite Shot of 2013.

Picking my favourite shot of 2013 was a hard one. I knew that I wanted to use a photo from my personal collection... but which one! I am also bias when it comes to photos of my family because each one is so special to me and in my eyes they are all perfect.

I settled on this photo because not only is it of my most favourite person in the world, my son, but it also brings back memories from our recent trip to PEI.

... plus look at those eyes!!! (unedited... I swear!!)
